Reporting from a Historical Road Trip
I haven't gone anywhere. More content coming soon, maybe even today.
I spent the last week or so traveling around continental Europe with one of my oldest friends, someone I’ve known since childhood. I joined him for the middle portion of his three-week journey following the 4th Armored Division’s route from the beaches of Normandy to occupation duty in Germany (my friend’s grandfather drove a Sherman Tank in the 4th AD, a part of Patton’s Third Army).
We took a detour to spend some time following in the footsteps of the 29th Infantry Division, specifically the 115th Infantry Regiment, near the Siegfried line.
I had originally planned on finishing up a couple of draft posts and publishing them from the road to maintain my at least once-a-week pace. But this proved impractical. My mind was focused on what I was seeing, not on the topics I’d queued up ahead of time.
The good news is that the journey itself will generate several articles, the first of which I hope to have out later today or early tomorrow.
Until next time, thanks for reading, subscribing, and spreading the word.
All the Best,
PGR
